Ek Onkar (ੴ)
"Ek Onkar" is written in the Gurmukhi script and translates to "There is only one God".
Meaning: It represents the absolute monotheistic belief in a single, universal, and formless creator.
Significance: It is the opening phrase of the Mul Mantar, the foundational verse of the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy scripture of Sikhism). It serves as a reminder of the unity of all creation and the omnipresence of the divine.
The Khanda (☬)
The Khanda is the military emblem of the Sikhs and is made up of four symbolic weapons:
The Khanda (Double-edged sword): Located in the center, it represents the knowledge of truth and the power to destroy falsehood.
The Chakkar (Circle): The circular throwing weapon symbolizes the eternal, infinite nature of God with no beginning and no end.
Two Kirpans (Curved single-edged swords): Flanking the inner design, they represent the balance between spiritual sovereignty and temporal (worldly) authority.
